Chris Rhodes, Murals
08.12.25–18.01.26
More than a city walk, Murals offers a printed encounter with Shanghai’s overlooked textures, intimate rhythms, and fleeting light — the subtle sculptural traces that shape how a city feels, not just how it looks.
Shot over an extended stay in Shanghai, British photographer Chris Rhodes captured the quiet spirit of the city. The project unfolds as both a limited-edition publication and an in-store exhibition, offering two ways of entering Rhodes’s portrait of the city. It’s a riddle for new eyes, and a love letter to those who’ve lived it from within.
To mark the launch, a conversation was held between Chris Rhodes, Tang Siyu (creative director, noisé), and Nathan Zhao (co-founder, Anest Collective), reflecting on the artistic and cultural dimensions of the project. The panel unpacked how Murals came to life through shared commitments to integrity, authorship, and long-form storytelling.
Limited-edition books are now available at select bookstores in Shanghai, with more cities to follow soon.
