Aaron Stern Hard Copy Los Angeles 09.01–03.02.25
Aaron Stern, Hard Copy Los Angeles
09.01–03.02.25
Hard Copy, curated by Aaron Stern, showcases a collection of large and small-scale xerox prints as a celebration and reaffirmation of photography's enduring power. In a world overrun by the creation of a trillion images daily, many reduced and capitalized to mere data, the exhibition stands as a resistance to this trend.
By reconfiguring contemporary photography through xeroxing and rescanning, it explores the medium's potential to slow the tidal wave pace of image production and consumption. The visual language of the xerox machine evokes nostalgia of a time of more deliberate picture making.
Despite the proliferation of digital photographs, fewer hard copies are made or exhibited, a trend reflected in the art world's treatment of photography. Through this show, Stern aims to reassert photography's inherent power: its ability to offer a profound, democratic, and tangible experience.
